OAKS, or Oregon Assessment of Knowledge and Skills, is the newly adopted name for the larger Oregon statewide assessment system. This new online testing system assesses students' mastery of Oregon content standards.
AIR will be conducting maintenance on the OAKS Online operational and practice/training test sites over the next two weekends. During these weekends, the TA Interface, Student Interface, and Practice/Training sites will be unavailable from: • Friday, January 8 at 11:59 pm PST until Monday, January 11 at 4:00 am PST • Friday, January 15 at 11:59 pm PST until Monday, January 18 at 4:00 am PST
However, authorized users will still be able to access Online Reporting and UMS.

Snow Leopard Secure Browser Now Available for Download
The new Mac OS 10.6 (Snow Leopard) secure browser is now available for download on the OAKS Portal (www.oaks.k12.or.us). All Mac OS 10.6 computers used for testing will need to install this browser in order to support ELPA items and new item types which ODE will field test in OAKS Online this spring. Mac OS 10.6 computers used for ELPA must install the new secure browser prior to January 4, 2010. Mac OS 10.6 computers that are used for OAKS Online only will need to complete this installation by March 15, 2010. In order to avoid confusion for students and test administrators, AIR strongly recommends uninstalling prior versions of the secure browser before installing this version.
If your district is not using computers with Mac OS 10.6 for testing, you will not need to install this new browser.

The window for ordering ELPA headsets opens on November 16, 2009. Districts may place orders online by clicking the link available from the General Resources page of OAKS Online or by accessing the e-commerce site directly. Added 11/13/09
